Hi BB,
I agree that custody battles constitute child abuse... unfortunately, in many cases one of the parents is left feeling like they have little choice in the matter, that they must fight to protect their child(ren). And my understanding of the situation is that in almost all cases where one parent is abusive, they will not give up custody so easily.

It's too bad that all parents who decide to part ways can't do so amicably, and not involve the children to the extent that far too many do.

You're in my thoughts and prayers. I hope things work out for the best for your child(ren). *HUGS*

I am in a horrible custody battle. I posted my story in survivor stories. I need any help or support I can get. I think custody battles are child abuse in and of themselves, but it is worse when a control freak and abuser is involved.

My abuse from my ex was mostly verbal as well. Bravo to you for getting your son away form it. That was what made me realize I had to get out. I was not going to let my kids grow up like that! With love, they can overcome the abusive past. Mine are great now! They are well adjusted and wonderful adults. The oldest has some anger issues due to dads influence, but over all he is getting much better with age and I am certain he will work through it eventually. In the mean time, he is at least smart enough to know he has issues and has not married or have children of his own! The second has just given me my second grandchild and the two still at home are doing very well. My second husband is wonderful to them and has made a huge difference in their lives!

Lady Alicia,may the creator richly bless you and your g/f for what you have done for your child.You are what a mother is all about,we need many more like you.Our children are being hurt,and many turn away,thinking it`s somebody`s else`s job to stop it,IT IS OUR JOB,EACH ONE OF US,TO STOP THE ABUSE.THOSE WHO SEE THEIR DUTY,AND TURNS AWAY,IS AS GUILTY AS THE ABUSER. i was a victim of verbal abuse for almost 8 yrs.i got away and just over a year ago i got my son away.now he is doing the same to someone else and her little one sees and hears.my son is messed up emotionally from what his dad did,but since he has been totally with me and my g/f he has made a remarkable improvement.

Thx for the invite. Hope I can be of some kind of help. I did not have to fight much tho for my kids when I left "IT".
