The purpose of this group is three-fold:
1. While browsing Ning, pay attention to what you see and keep an eye out for pedophile activity and child pornography (CP)
2. Report any suspicious activity to the NCMEC first. Then report the activity to Ning, and let them know you've reported the incident to NCMEC. UPDATE: Ning has told me that any reports of child pornography should be emailed to them directly at abuse@ning.com, and make sure you let them know that it's regarding child pornography on a Ning site in the subject line.
3. Educate parents, guardians, friends, family, and children about the dangers of posting personal photos, movie clips, and personal information on any networking site.
The purpose for this group is report suspicious, inappropriate, and illegal activity to Law Enforcement (LE) and to Ning, NOT to attack, threaten, bully, or otherwise illegally approach any member of Ning seen behaving as a child pornographer, pedophile or pedophile supporter. Such behavior would be counter-productive, in that it would give the potential offender time to clean up or close their site before Ning has a chance to lock them out for LE to investigate the content. So it's best to do nothing to warn these people that anyone is on to them.
Please do not post the links to any of these suspicious sites here, as that would make the inappropriate content available for our minors. If you have questions about a site, feel free to email the link to DodiaFae and I'll take a look at it and answer any questions you may have.
Ning is has been very good about locking these accounts out so that LE can go in and investigate the content and track those responsible for posting it. They're less concerned with the numbers than YouTube, for example, and more concerned with complying with the law and keeping their members safe. It helps them if this type of content is reported to NCMEC and to them, so that they can comply with the laws.
I will be posting a discussion on the various signs that will help people to identify suspicious activity on sites, some of which might help in identifying potential CP sites even if you're not able to view much content that would make it obvious.
If you happen to come across any Ning sites that have graphic pornography readily viewable without joining (ie. on the main page and in the slide-show) don't be afraid to report those to Ning, as they are in violation of Ning's TOS.
Ning has, as of January of this year, opted not to host adult sites any longer. This is how Ning defines "Adult Content".
While I personally haven't got a problem with adult content in it's proper place, I do have a problem with openly available adult content on networks that are open to minors. Ning allows children as young as 12 on their networks, and many of the adult content on the sites is viewable to anyone, including minors, even if they're not members.

Please note that the contact information listed above for Ning (in the event that child pornography is found on one of the sites they're hosting) has been amended.
I just found 2 more sites with graphic child pornography on the network listing of a Ning member... one for a GL site ("Girl Lover"), and one for a BL site ("Boy Lover"). Unfortunately, these sites were both wide-open (membership not required to view *any* of the material posted on the site). Membership on one of these sites was almost to 250, and the other close to 300. So these sites have either been there a while, or the pedophiles are that well organized that they can really fill these sites up in a very short period of time.
This stuff is nightmare inducing.

Just to let everyone know how rife Ning is with this problem, I just got another hit via this Ning search. (I say "another", because it's not the first Ning search for child porn that a person has surfed into PACA on.)
For those who don't know what a "voyeur" is, Dictionary.com had this to say (among other things):
voy·eur (voi-yûr')
n.
1. A person who derives sexual gratification from observing the naked bodies or sexual acts of others, especially from a secret vantage point.
2. An obsessive observer of sordid or sensational subjects.
Main Entry: voy·eur
Pronunciation: vwä-'yr, voi-'r

: one obtaining sexual gratification from seeing sex organs and sexual acts; broadly : one who habitually seeks sexual stimulation by visual means
Now, think about what someone searching for that term, followed by "child" is looking for...
As I've said in other discussion, I'm not making everyone aware of this to scare anyone away from PACA (or Ning, or any child abuse awareness site). I just want everyone to have a clear idea of what levels these people will stoop to in order to get what they want, and that they do troll any child abuse awareness and prevention site they come across (most of which will show up in searches like the one above, due to the terminology that most such sites will try to make people aware of, as well as the general tags such as "child", "abuse", and "pornography" used to tag many of the discussion topics.)
I also want to assure everyone that we do keep track of any and all information we get from trackers in these instances for future reference. We do this to keep our members safe in case these people attempt to join the network in the near future, as well as to report them to LE in the hopes that they can help to protect other children.
I guess I'm hoping that this information makes everyone else as angry as it makes me that these people are so blatant and unafraid to perform these searches. I'm also hoping that it will serve as a wake-up call to everyone about posting personal information anywhere online that could assist anyone in tracking you, such as your real name and your exact location together, pictures of your kids and their activities, etc. A determined individual can find out just about anything they need with relatively few key pieces of information.

we have contacted a lawyer. but it seems as if everything is very slow moving. i keep in touch with her everyday. for now she is safe. thank you for the prayers and i wil keep you updated
