This group will focus on books dealing with personal and child safety issues.
Check your local used book stores for the books to save money, or go to your local library. Often, public libraries are part of library networks, and if they don't have a book in your branch, they may be able to borrow it from another branch in their network and let you know when it arrives. You can sometimes buy them used from Barnes & Noble's website. I personally haven't bought anything from Amazon in over a year, this and this are the reasons why. I'm not saying I expect everyone to follow suit, but just thought it would be good for everyone to know about this.
Some guidelines to start off with:
We'll choose a new book every two months. Hopefully this will give everyone time to read the book and contribute to the discussion or ask questions.
There will be a separate discussion topic for each book, where members can post thoughts and questions about the subject matter.
If anyone is interested, we can set up a chat sessions to discuss the books.
The above guidelines are not set in stone. If anyone has suggestions, please post to the comment wall below or send me an email. I've chosen the first book to start with, but am open to suggestions on future selections as long as the book is about dealing with personal and child safety issues.

If they don't have it in your local branch, they may be able to borrow it from a network affiliate and have it sent to your branch. Also, you can sometimes purchase books used from the Barnes & Noble or the Borders Books websites. The prices for used books are generally significantly less, and the condition of the book is still sometimes new (or like new). I've gotten a couple that were out of print and the spine cracked when I opened them.
After the baby's born and I get back into a routine, I'll start posting information about each chapter of the book. But I still would very much like people to read the book for themselves, as there is no way I can get all the information in here without typing out the book in it's entirety.
I know... I get the feeling that a lot of people are suffering from a lack of time. ;)
I haven't even gotten through the first chapter of "Protecting The Gift" yet! But what I've read is very informative.

Ok I have a problem with that, being gay is one thing I do not have a issue with at all. However; saying the only reason you molest boys/girls is because you are gay or that because the kids may be gay is not right. I do agree however that being rap…
This is a campaign against GLSEN due to their "recommended reading list", a list of books detailing graphic and degrading sexual situations between children and adults who's only possible purpose could be to normalize adult/child sex.
Warning: This discussion contains some information that is unsuitable for minors... which is what the GLSEN website's "recommended reading list for grades 7-12" should state, but it doesn't.
This subject was first brought to my attention by Rob Tay…
